After having written about the first one HERE, I just caught the second new Microsoft commercial featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates. I actually laughed. Check it out:
As we continue to discuss this campaign and make it one of the most debated and talked about in recent history, the story is beginning to unfold. We're starting to see a couple themes here:
Microsoft is for the every(wo)man
Microsoft connects people and vows to continue
Microsoft has lots in store for the future
Bill Gates' Conquistador shoes are not yet broken in
What do you think?

Interesting. The second one made me laugh a few times and clearly had a more concrete message. Things are starting to make more sense and have a bit more entertainment value, but is that just because we're comparing to the first spot which was such a flop? Perhaps it was all a big conspiracy from the beginning.
The master plan: Make the first spot completely asinine, so everyone talks about how terrible it is. Then the stage is set for the second one, because everyone's ready and waiting to see the next horrifyingly inept spot and tear it to shreds just like the first, declaring Apple the all time winner. Except the second spot looks pretty good next to the first pile of poo. Thus...perceived success!
