What cost 25 cents in 1942 and still puts a smile on everyone’s face today? The Little Golden Books series of course. From now until May 9th, one of our favorite locations–the Central Library of Baltimore–is hosting an exhibition of original illustrations from the series. Shown here are two of my personal favorites, The Saggy Baggy Elephant and Scuffy the Tugboat. The opening reception is this Saturday, March 7th starting at 2:30.

My little granddaughter, Ella Rose, has excellent taste and is very smart. She has liked Little Golden Books for years, two out of three, at least. I am glad to see that the Baltimore City Library System brought to Baltimore for Ella Rose, an exhibit of original Little Golden Books. She and her little brother, William, were visitors to the exhibit when it opened and they loved it.
Their grandfather and I have bought them many Little Golden Books, some of them twice.
