I went to Starbucks this past weekend and saw something that I found pretty interesting, useful and innovative. It was a mini newspaper published by GOOD. The piece itself was very small–about the right size for reading over a cup of coffee–and it covered only one main topic. The one I picked up covered the issue of high fuel costs. It was a very informative and relevant piece and I thought it was a good promotion because it both furthered the Starbucks brand ethos, provided excellent product placement for GOOD, and satisfied a customer need for something to read over coffee.
Next time you’re in your neighborhood *$, make sure you pick one up. And if you’re a socially and environmentally conscious individual who is NOT a subscriber to GOOD, you need to go visit their Web site right now at www.good.is to subscribe. You can name your own price with 100% of the price of your subscription going to the charity of your choice. It’s an amazing concept.
